First Post, Who dis?

Welcome to the first official post. I have introduced myself lots on this page and I have explained a lot about my illnesses. If you can relate, drop me a line.

One of the big things that I want to talk about here, today, on my wonderful Wednesday is one of my favorite things- the start of spring and grow season. I have my seedlings started and ready to plant as soon as our weather warms up. I have a cabinet in my kitchen where I typically start under a grow light that way they are exposed to the weather and they are exposed to lots of music. I firmly believe a little Grateful Dead makes my day go. You cannot be sad if you have the dead on with a good beverage in hand. Well, maybe you can, but I cannot.

Seeds:
This year, I am growing a bastardized version of a Skittles variety I do very well with. I have noticed that this strain tends to get me comfortable while being able to maintain for creative use and for productivity. That’s one of my favorite things with this strain. I have been asked how my seed growth is always successful, I have not failed a single time with this variety. Don’t ask me what exactly it was- its a bastardization between two different plants- one was female and lord knows what the male was. Interesting thing about the growth cycle is, they grow fast and they grow strong. It was one of my first grows and I had ZERO idea what I was doing. I have made my process a lot cleaner and a lot more productive.

We are also choosing what we are planting out of a new company- STRNG Seeds. I am so excited to see what we end up planting as I am holding off on those seedlings until May/June. I tend to like to do an early and late crop in order to always have a fresh supply. STRNG Seeds was recommended to me by another grower in my area. I have found them to be reasonably priced but this is the first time we have used them to grow. I will keep everyone up to date as the season progresses.

Soil:
I choose to use a nice Cocoa blend soil as the cocoa will soak up more of the nutrients to provide better moisture control and distribution of the plant food. I tend to start day one with a nice fertilizer. I will have a post this week with all of the names and how I use them. The interesting thing to me about cocoa is how nice it just compacts. You dont get stringy weird babies like you do with some other grow methods.

One of my very favorite things I am doing now is preparing my outside. I have been weeding and getting the outside soil completely ready for plants. The biggest thing I start to look for around now is if I need to restock my supply of lady bugs and worms. I will release both into my gardening area during the spring season in order to sure pests are as naturally take care of as they can be. I do not use any pesticides.

Water:

Water will always be one topic that I think never gets talked about enough. I will water sometimes small amounts up to three times a day. When they are outside, I water morning before 8am and at night after dinner. Why? Because these plants DRINK. They need water. They need nutrition. Both are not the same. Feed your plants a good system (which we will talk about) and water your plants. Both need to happen. Think about what you do at a meal. You both eat and drink. They need the exact same thing.

Get you a system that YOU can do. I will explain mine in details in another posting. I always say these guys are some of the most emo plants I have ever had the luck of growing. Growing takes time, experience, know how and the ability to sit down, shut up and listen to other people and their experiences. There are a million ways and places to grow. You’re gonna hear what works for me. I take a little from here and there and make my mind up depending on my situation.

Aquatics:

My new 2026 goal is a flood table. I will be documenting the process every single step of the way including cost of set up.

I will have pictures to post this week! For now, I hope you have a wonderful day.
